Sinopsis:
Toma lugar un año antes de que los Zentraedi lleguen a la tierra, Macross Zero cuenta sobre los últimos días de la guerra entre U.N. Spacy y las facciones anti-U.N. Después de ser derribado por un disparo de los nuevo aviones de combate de los anti-U.N., el hábil piloto Shin Kudo se pierde en la remota isla de Mayan, donde la tecnología es prácticamente inexistente. En su estancia él sana de sus heridas, la tranquilidad de la isla es interrumpida por una batallas que involucra los nuevos modelos de la UN - los VF-0.
